A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers is a science-fiction novella about a tea monk whose life is interrupted by a robot. The visitor is trying to understand what people need, a question that turns out to leave plenty of room for conversation.

That meeting gives our club a starting point for discussing purpose, everyday routines, and whether knowing what we want is the same as knowing what we need. The book opens the Monk and Robot series; this is an invitation to discover its premise, not a reading deadline.

You do not need to have read it to take part.

If a fictional visitor asked what makes a good human life, would your answer begin with what we do, what we want, or what helps us feel content?
