Foundry Makers Collective is a community of builders, artists, and tinkerers offering shared access to wood, metal, digital fabrication, textiles, and electronics shops.
Our mission is to prioritize safety, fairness, and care for shared tools while empowering beginners to learn and experts to share. We organize orientations, tool checkouts, workshops, and collaborative builds.
Members follow clear standards for PPE, machine training, booking and queues, cleanup, and hazardous materials, with special emphasis on ventilation and fire safety. Storage policies, quiet hours, and respectful communication keep the space welcoming and efficient.
We publish our policies and budgets for transparency, maintain a volunteer corps of shop stewards, and partner with local schools, libraries, and small businesses to expand access to making. All rules are guided by our founding principle: safety first, and share knowledge.

What Are Rules?
On RuleTogether, Rules are simply community decisions ideas or proposals that members can suggest, discuss, and vote on together.
Types of Rules
- Draft Rules - Every new Rule starts as a Draft. While in Draft, members can comment, vote, and suggest changes to refine the idea.
- Published Rules - Once a Rule is considered ready, it can be promoted to Published status by founders, council members, or through a community vote. Published Rules become part of the community’s record and are treated as active decisions.
- Set in Stone - Some Rules are so important that a community founders or council members may lock them in as foundational. These require a special process to change. Read more...
- Archived Rules - Old, rejected, or replaced Rules are kept for reference so members can see the community’s history.
